Romance on the National Mall

This tale is set on our beautiful National Mall - wasn't it glorious on Inauguration Day! Yet I'll bet you don't know all the history of how it became what it is today. Love on the Mall is set from 1922, the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial, to 1943, the dedication of the Jefferson Memorial. And other monumental changes - from the Botanic Garden to the National Gallery - happened during those years.

As our lovers Estela, an anthropologist at the National Museum, and Nikos, a Mall architect, are periodically entangled there, you'll learn a bit of history of America's front year. If you have visited it, you'll really be able to relate; if you haven't, you'll want to come (adding it to your post-COVID-19 travel list!)

Yes, the Mall was once full of trees!

Which do you like better? A place where lovers strolled on tree-canopied paths? or a place where everyday people play ball?

Estela loved the trees; Nikos was taking them down to create a City Beautiful. Hmm, just one of the differences that keep them apart over the course of 20 years.

As one reviewer said, "Most of all, I loved the story. It’s an emotional, lyrical meditation on how time draws us closer and sometimes separates us from the people we love, making you think about chance meetings, choices, change, and fate.
